ON THE COVER: Biointerface Science. Microscopic view of a multi-electrode array of conformationally switchable surfaces. The surfaces consist of self-assembled monolayers. The background shows rows of amphiphilic molecular switches (red: polar end group; blue: apolar chain) tethered to the electrodes, while the foreground shows the bending of the molecules as they undergo conformational changes. See the technical theme that begins on p. 175.
