The Materials Research Society encourages the active involvement of organizations through the Corporate Participation Program. MRS Corporate Affiliates are a vital link in the Society's promotion of close interaction among scientists and engineering professionals in the materials research community. If your organization is interested in influencing the growth and direction of interdisciplinary, basic research on advanced materials, then we urge you to join the MRS Corporate Participation Program and form a global partnership for a new era!
A partnership with MRS through the Corporate Participation Program means benefits all around. For MRS, your financial support helps to ensure that both the Society and its technical programs are responsive to the interests of the research community. General contributions are used to fund student programs, such as the Graduate Student Awards. Graduate Student Awards are intended to honor and encourage graduate students whose academic achievements and current materials research display a high order of excellence and distinction, and who show promise for future substantial achievement in materials research. In addition, general contributions are used to provide travel grants for members of university chapters and underwrite special projects, such as the Distinguished Lecturer Series. The David Turnbull Lectureship is awarded to recognize the career of a scientist who has made outstanding contributions to understanding materials phenomena and properties through research, writing and lecturing, as exemplified by the life work of David Turnbull. Or, contributions can be directed to a specific symposium of your choice for the advancement of new topical areas. A special aspect of MRS is its focus on a multidisciplinary approach in advancing our field. It is at the interface between disciplines where many new insights and rapid advances in materials research take place. One has only to look at the latest advances in electronics, communications, aerospace, bioprocessing and environmental technology to see the value of the interdisciplinary approach. Either way, corporate participation is absolutely critical to the Society for building the bridge to the future of advanced materials-related issues.
While fostering advances in materials research, your organization gains visibility and access to a broad range of professionals who are dedicated to goal-oriented, interdisciplinary materials research. This exposure clearly establishes your organization's prominent role in materials science research. In short, a partnership with MRS through the Corporate Participation Program means that you have positioned your organization among the best and are seen by the best among materials research professionals from around the world. And just as your organization's role in the Corporate Participation Program is a powerful means of getting your message to the right people, it is also a means of gathering information for your own use. Through networking and information exchange, your organization will be better able to develop products and services that are tailored to the needs of the research community--which in turn will generate additional partnership opportunities for a new era.
