Symposium O: Microwave Processing of Materials V

This is the fifth international symposium on Microwave Processing of Materials to be held in conjunction with an MRS Spring Meeting. The theme of this year's symposium is "Science and Applications of the Microwave Processing Technology." Authors of papers addressing fundamental aspects of microwave interactions with materials; recent technological advances in the design, monitoring, and control of microwave processing systems; and technological and economical barriers/solutions towards the scale-up and full commercial utilization of this technology are invited to submit papers for possible presentation in the symposium.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

* Computer modeling and numerical simulation of microwave processing systems and procedures
* Design of microwave processing systems
* Alternative microwave sources
* New microwave processing procedures
* Microwave-based nondestructive testing, diagnostics, and process control
* Critical evaluation of, and new procedures for, temperature measurements in microwave environment
* Microwave remediation of hazardous waste and contaminated materials
* Dielectric properties measurements of materials
* Scale-up, reproducibility, technology transfer, and economic evaluation issues of the microwave processing technology
* R&D needs and fundamental studies of interaction mechanisms
* Application areas of microwave processing: ceramics sintering, joining, coating, powder processing, composites, RF drying, polymer curing, microwave-enhanced chemical reactions, and processing of minerals and raw materials

The symposium encourages exhibitors to participate and safely display their latest technology, processing systems, and devices and to share their expertise and services with attendees.

Corporate sponsorship is also solicited. For further information, please contact Magdy F. Iskander or any of the symposium organizers listed below.
