Symposium BB: Materials in Musical Instruments II Jointly Sponsored by the Acoustical Society of America Following the pattern of the very successful Materials in Musical Instruments symposium of the MRS 1994 Spring Meeting, this symposium will provide an opportunity for interaction to researchers in the field of musical acoustics, instrument makers, manufacturers, and performers. Emphasis will be on materials and production processes. Sessions will be devoted to the major families of musical instruments: strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, and percussion. Performance demonstrations will be included in the sessions. Panel discussions designed to enhance mutually beneficial dialogue between researchers, artisans, and performers will be scheduled. Concerns associated with alternative materials will be discussed. Unique applications of materials development are especially solicited.
