Call for Papers / MRS Symposium L
Materials
for Next-Generation Display Systems
Session
Topics | Invited Speakers | Organizers | Abstract
Submission
Displays
are central aspects of our lives, from television, to advertising,
to printed signs on paper. Recent technology advances have
started to shape our ideas of what future displays might
be: flexible, bright, rollable, low-power, and conformable;
but traditional, flat-panel displays are also evolving. This
symposum will highlight trends in research and development
on emerging displays and signs of all types. It will focus
on materials issues surrounding the circuit, light-modulating
and mechanical components of OLED, LCD, electrophoretic,
electrochromic, bistable, and mechanical systems. The topics
will include: patterning, materials, lifetime and stability,
encapsulation, flexibility, bistability, electronics, and
power supply—all of which rely on materials research
for major advances. The goal of this symposium will be to
highlight recent efforts which are key to the continued development
of novel displays.
