How to Write a Successful Proposal
To achieve its goal, a proposal must go beyond the mechanics of preparation and submission. It should be both informative and persuasive, and must convey the message that the proposed solution will benefit the materials community and society. It also needs to be effectively presented as a complete program. Moreover, the guidelines for proposal structure and content can vary significantly from one funding agency to another.
This
complimentary workshop reviewed and compared the specific
requirements of two major funding agencies – the
National Science Foundation and the National Institutes
of Health – in the area of materials science. The
following presentations and associated discussion provided
guidance to all investigators for effective grant submissions
for federal funding.
