Presentation Guidelines
ORAL PRESENTATIONS
- Most contributed presentations are scheduled
for 15 minutes; most invited speakers are scheduled for 30 minutes.
- Standard audio-visual equipment available
includes an LCD projector, overhead projector, screen, pointer,
and a lapel microphone.
Audio-visual guidelines for oral
presentations
- IMPORTANT: If
you need additional audio-visual equipment (e.g., a 35 mm slide
projector or VCR), it is essential to discuss your request with
one of your symposium organizers. Information on any special
equipment must be received at MRS Headquarters from the symposium
organizer no later than March 22.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS
The following information may assist you in
preparing an informative and professional poster display:
- Print TITLE and authors in extra large characters
(over 1.25 in. high) across the top of your display.
- Display your material in large print so it
may be read from a distance. It is important to use text and
graphics larger and bolder than those in your manuscript! Be
clear and succinct.
- Each board will be approximately 8' wide
x 4' high. Usable space is 91" x 45". Boards
will accept pushpins or Velcro. A (finite) supply of pushpins
will be available.
- Each presentation will be assigned a board
and will be labeled with the number of the paper (e.g., M5.18)
and the presenting author's name. A small table will be under
each board.
- Refreshments will be provided during evening
sessions.
Evening Poster Sessions
Evening poster sessions will be held Tuesday
through Thursday from 8:00-11:00 p.m. Poster boards will be available
with identifying labels in place no earlier than 6:30 p.m. the
evening of your poster session. Because preliminary judging for
the Meeting Chairs' Best Poster Awards will occur before 8:00
p.m., please plan to post your paper as soon as possible after
6:30 p.m. Unless you are the winner of a "Best Poster
Award," it is extremely important that you remove
your poster at the end of your poster session, no later than
11:00 p.m. (It is almost impossible to locate posters if
they are left on the boards after 11:00 p.m.). Winning posters
will be displayed in the ballroom foyer for the remainder of
the meeting and can be removed by the authors at their convenience.
